Forward Ever Sustainable Business Alliance 

(Forward Ever) is a not-for-profit organization that celebrates and amplifies the collective impact of independent, locally-owned businesses. 

We are the first urban affiliate of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), the largest values-aligned business alliance in North America.  

We SUPPORT, PROMOTE, EDUCATE, and ADVOCATE for a strong local business community and raise public awareness of the economic and cultural benefits provided by a strong local economy.  

Forward Ever is fostering a movement committed to the economic and environmental sustainability of the Greater Newark community via a Triple Bottom Line approach. 

OUR MISSION

is to provide a support network for local independently owned businesses that facilitates cooperative promotion and purchasing, rebuilds local supply chains and food systems, and leads to “Buy Local” initiatives, sustainable communities, and job creation.

OUR VISION

is to create dynamic collaborations that expand economic self-reliance, and a sustainable local economy where local businesses are prosperous, and contribute to a healthy environment and the wealth and well-being of all citizens.

The Triple Bottom Line (TBL) concept has changed the way businesses, nonprofits and governments measure sustainability and the performance of projects or policies.

The TBL (also known as 3BL, the three Ps and the three pillars) puts into concrete terms what we already know: there’s more to business than just making money. You could even say that there’s more to making money than making money…at least the traditional way.

Beyond the foundation of measuring sustainability on three fronts—people, planet and profits—the flexibility of the TBL allows organizations to apply the concept in a manner suitable to their specific needs.
